A Celebration of Hope

Introducing the Danielsen Center for Hope after Loss

You’re invited to join a special celebration as Spiritual Care Support Ministries becomes the Danielsen Center for Hope after Loss.

Together, we will honor the story God has written through this ministry and look ahead with hope.

Enjoy a brief ceremony, light refreshments, and time to connect with one another.

The organization invites our volunteers, community members, and local partners to share in this moment.

It was the year 1989, Chaplain Liz Danielsen says, when the Lord placed a dream in her heart - a vision of a safe, compassionate space where those experiencing emotional, spiritual, and physical pain could come and begin to heal. But that vision didn’t begin to take shape until much later, after years of training and preparation.

On March 5, 2004, Spiritual Care Support Ministries was officially incorporated and then opened its doors at 76 West Shirley Avenue on May 1st. The beginnings were humble but filled with hope. That September, the organization held a gathering of family, friends, and community members for a joyful ribbon cutting and open house.

Loss can come in many forms, such as: the death of a loved one, declining health, divorce, retirement, or other life transitions that reshape our world. No matter the source, the need is the same: a place to be seen, supported, and gently guided toward hope.

What began as a dream became a deeper fulfillment of His promise when, in 2020, the organization moved into their new home at 7179 New Hope Lane, representing new growth and a continued commitment to creating a space for healing and hope.

From the earliest days of this ministry, God brought incredible men and women alongside me to help carry this vision forward, says Chaplain Liz. One of these men, Liz’s husband Arvid, left a lasting legacy of compassion, strength, and quiet faithfulness as he walked alongside Liz from the beginning until his passing in 2020.

In honor of Arvid, and in recognition of the dream God placed in Liz’s heart, the organization is renaming to the Danielsen Center for Hope After Loss. This name reflects both the personal story behind the ministry and the heart of their mission: to offer hope and healing to those navigating loss and to remind each person who walks through the door that they don’t have to walk this journey alone.

Join us on June 2nd to gather together in honor of Arvid and the organization’s recommitment to helping individuals in our community.

Spiritual Care Support Ministries, now the Danielsen Center for Hope After Loss, SCSM provides faith-based education, training, counseling, and spiritual support to those who are ill, dying, grieving, and experiencing personal loss, and to those who journey with them.  It is our mission to provide compassionate care and emotional healing for individuals and families struggling with loss and pain – whether from illness, the death of a loved one, a chronic condition, divorce, or other personal losses. Our counseling services, inspirational studies, and  support groups give people strength, hope, and enduring faith during many of the most difficult times of their lives and are provided for free.

We understand that each person’s beliefs and the way in which each mourns and heals is different, yet each person needs encouragement and compassion while working through their feelings.

SCSM is a non-denominational, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our vision is to establish a local, national, and international resource center to provide ministry, training, and a retreat for those who are ill, dying, grieving, and experiencing personal losses, for all to take part in when they need it most. SCSM provides this support for individuals and families throughout our local communities, and nationwide through remote counseling via phone and apps such as Zoom, Facetime, and Skype; informational resources; inspirational messages; and more.
