Spiritual First Aid

To help increase the capacity to provide mental health aid and support the faith community, the Mental Health Association is pleased to offer Spiritual Health First Aid. More information about the curriculum is available at https://www.spiritualfirstaid.org.

This course consists of 8 online video sessions (completed at home), with 4 hybrid discussion group meetings (in-person or by zoom). See dates below. MHA-Fauquier provides the course and all materials at no cost to you.

Besides discussing the course content and scenarios, this is a great way to have interfaith dialogue and develop helping skills. The curriculum is Bible-based but translates well to all faith backgrounds, and all backgrounds are welcome.

Upon completion, participants will be certified in Spiritual First Aid and qualified as designated "helpers" in their faith communities or professional capacity.

Facilitator Team:

  • Bridget Downey, Mental Health Fauquier

  • Rev. Vini Holland, First Baptist Church Warrenton

  • Andrea Simmons, Providence Baptist Church Orlean

  • Stacey Myers, Celebrate Recovery & Liberty Community Church Bealeton

Please note that this course is designed to train participants to provide emotional first aid and is not intended as group therapy--though often, when we help others, we are healing ourselves in the process.
