Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month
The Mental Health Association of Fauquier County is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month this May! From community presentations to walks designed for all ages, there are plenty of free events for Fauquier and Rappahannock county residents to participate in. We have teamed up with Fauquier County Parks & Recreation to offer the community several Wellness Walks to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Mental Health Association is offering several free community presentations to promote and facilitate mental wellness in the area.
Partnership for Community Resources (PCR) Presentation
Friday, May 5, 9:00 a.m.
Renee Norden, executive director for Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, will give a presentation to PCR on state of mental health in our region and implications for nonprofit organizations.
Warrenton Branch Greenway Wellness Walk
Saturday, May 6, 9:00 a.m.
Start your weekend right and join us for a morning walk designed to promote community connection, mindfulness and resiliency. Staff from the Mental Health Association will open with a mindfulness exercise and a brief discussion about the mental health benefits of spending time outside. Let’s all get off our “screens,” and get outside to enjoy nature. All participants will meeting at the Turntable. Advanced registration is required.
Ignite Fauquier Presentation

Renee Norden, executive director, will provide Ignite Fauquier a presentation on the state of mental health in our region, and what impacts there are on the workplace.
Lunch & Learn: State of Mental Health: Supporting Community Wellness.
Thursday, May 11, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Join us for a presentation by Renee Norden, executive director, on the state of mental health in our region, followed by a discussion with community leaders representing workforce, law enforcement, education and faith about issues of concern, recommendations and developments aimed to improve mental health support. Renee Norden, executive director for the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, will update participants, and afterwards, a panel discussion led by Andy Johnston, PATH Foundation, will be held. Guest panelists include Tim Carter, Warrenton Police Department; Donna Guzman, Fauquier County Public Schools; and more. Registration is required.
CM Crockett Park Wellness Walk
Saturday, May 13, 6:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening walk designed to promote community connection, mindfulness and resiliency. MHA staff will open with a mindfulness exercise and discussion of the importance of getting outside for mental health, and the park’s staff will lead us on a short walk featuring the beauty of Crockett Park. This event will coincide with the Fauquier CountyParks & Recreation’s Star Gaze event. Let’s all get off our “screens,” and get outside to enjoy nature. Participants are asked to meet in the upper parking lot, to the left of the gatehouse. Advanced registration is required.
Northern Fauquier Community Park Wellness Walk
Saturday, May 20, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
