Tara Helkowski

Tara began her career in education in 1994 as a teacher for Fauquier County Public Schools and currently serves as the school division’s public information officer. In this role, she enjoys celebrating students and staff and is committed to building stronger connections with the community. Through her work with Youth Mental Health First Aid and the school division’s purple lanyard initiative, Tara has become an advocate for mental wellness, particularly in youth. She looks forward to working with the MHAFC Board to combat the stigma of youth mental illness. Tara currently serves on the VA Piedmont Salvation Army Advisory Board and is a 2020 graduate of Leadership Fauquier.
